Pino in Amsterdam

Last weekend our friend Pino from Berlin came to visit us in Amsterdam. It was a weekend full of culture: Istanbul exhibition in the Nieuwe Kerk, lots of Desperate Housewives, shopping at Javastraat (the all Turkish, Moroccan, Surinam, multi culti shopping street of Amsterdam Oost) and travel. On Sunday we went to Rotterdam (my former home town) for sightseeing and to Utrecht for dinner. I took some pictures of our high tea session in Hotel New York.

The picture of this orange willow branches was taken near Zwolle, when Erik and I were hiking along the river IJssel last Sunday. The dark color by the way is no shadow, the branches are just a little darker there , then in front.

Bodies/Körperwelten

Last weekend I made it to the exhibition "Bodies" (Körperwelten in German). Erik didn't want to join me, so I had to see the inside human being on my own.

Despite the exorbitant access fee, the exhibition was worth every cent. It was in one word impressive. And the impressive part was not only the exhibits itself but the way people where looking at them.

Nobody was scared, everybody was watching the bodies quietly and with great dignity. Some people began to feel their own body like they wanted to confirm what they saw in the exhibits. The visitors were very different: old people, young couples, Dutch people, immigrants, tourists, ....
