Week 2

It's two weeks no that I haven't had any contact with Erik and I must say it seems to get harder and harder. So I am quite depressed about everything. Fortunately I had a 2 day course from work this week for a most welcome distraction. The course was in a hotel in Barchem, a lovely place in the forest of Gelderland, and guess what we even had time to enjoy the forests since some parts of the course took place outside.

Don't worry I will not count the weeks until the day Erik is contacting me. I made a decision and a promise to myself: the separation will not force me to sit in the dark and wait. I will organize my own party and have fun. As a first step I booked a weekend trip to Paris. What's better then the city of lights when the lights outside are getting scarce? Today I received the tickets already. I must say that NS international was quite quick with them.

The next step I will take will be organizing a trip to Rome. Since it is quite a challenge to organize the flight and a hotel I couldn't do it all at once otherwise I would have done it already. I will do it next week.

After train and plane I should go somewhere by car as well... Friends of mine asked me to come to visit them in Luxembourg and I will do that as well, when we find a suitable weekend. Other possibilities are Cologne (always cool), Bremen (I saw a program on TV today about Bremen and I liked it), Münster (I have never been there and it is supposed to be quite nice and it's not so far from here), Essen (I want to see villa Hügel the former residence of the industrial tycoon, Alfred Krupp and his family), Hamburg (I don't know that city and it might be worth a weekend trip) Canary Islands (unbelievable but I haven't been there yet and it should be the place where I should find some winter sun), Madrid (Fran wants to show me around there), SFO (I could visit Matt in San Francisco as long as the dollar is favorable for me). Plans enough I'd say. I don't know what can/will be realized, but an idea is the first step.

Desperate Housewives (S4-03+04)

My friend Pino already told me that the last two episodes that were aired in the US were great. So last night I got the two episodes and watched them today. And guess what, Pino was right. Susan's role in the welcome procedure at the appearance of two gay men in the neighborhood was great.
Pino and I discussed her clumsiness today, and we came to the conclusion that we both feel clumsy in some situations as well. And my guess is that everybody does that. The reason why I hate Susan Meyer so much is not her clumsiness, but how she handles it. She always wants to cover things up and want to make up for her mistakes, which always leads to new clumsy situations.
Rule 1: Don't cover up your clumsiness, in 90% of the cases you are the only one who notices your own clumsiness.
Rule 2: If others notice it, say something about it. A joke is mostly enough to clear the air.
Rule 3: If it's a big faux pas, say that you were wrong and make excuses for it.
Anyway I understand that Susan has to be like this in the series. I look forward to the next episodes of DH.

Time Out ("Wat een mooie dag")

I called my weblog a web diary (or diarrhea as some others could say) and that means, I guess, that I should write down here what keeps me busy. ... even if it is bad news. What keeps me busy for a week now is the future of my relationship with Erik.

I waited a week to write my thoughts down here in the hope things would sort out itself in one week. Obliviously they didn't and from the inside my feelings reflect the weather outside: cold, wet and gray.

Last Sunday I started the talk, that seemed to be overdue for some weeks, since Erik was still angry with me about something that happened during our vacation and I wasn't aware of until our talk. Though I still love Erik to bits (for six years now) I found out that Erik is not so sure about his feelings for me any more. It was clear to me that we could not solve this problem while we are together (we tried that before), so we agreed to take a time out period. Feeling very bad I left Erik's house and didn't have any contact with him since then. Are we doing something that we both don't want to do?

Result after only one week I miss my buddy Erik madly. (And of course listening to Brigitte Kaandorp doesn't help a bit to lighten up my mood.)

TV

As a film fan I'm in to nearly all movie genres. But though I like documentaries very much I don't have much chances to see any. Yesterday though I made a discovery. I found Hollanddoc and \Geschiedenis on the internet. The last one has a Bert Haanstra special going on this weekend. Very cool! The programs that are broadcasted are both real time television (with a tv-guide for those programs) and on demand for some selected documentaries. In the last category I just saw "Beperkt houdbaar", a shocking documentary over the influence of the image of beauty on the psychological health of women.

Touched

Yesterday when I was going home by train, I was touched by a very simple situation, what might proof that the simple things are mostly the best. All started with NS having some problems with their material. The train I was supposed to take didn’t run. We all had to change platforms and take another (much too small) train. So everybody was packed in the train. An older couple in their 70ties came to sit just opposite of me where they started to solve a crypto puzzle. It was so cute how they were working together, though both had their own way of approaching the problems. Maybe that was their secret: while both were using their own style they accepted each other in their differences and together they became a strong team.

Ambulanssi (a very funny clip!)

Zie hier hun nieuwste:

The clip is spoken in Finnish (and some Dutch from the bikers), but the words are not important. Enjoy!

The penis painter

Today I heard an unbelievable item on the radio over an Australian guy who uses his penis a paintbrush ... Well, it seems to be true. Have a look:
