BlackBerry test

Hello world,

This message was sent from my crappy BlackBerry. I must say that I am rather disappointed about the features on the BB. The mail function works fine, but of nearly all the rest I had bigger expectations. I look forward to the day when I buy my Mio A710 or a HTC P4350. :-)

A touch of Africa

Our friends George and Yilmaz from South Africa sacrificed two days of their honeymoon trip to Europe, to visit Erik and me in Zwolle. George and Yilmaz are one of the first gay couples that were married in South Africa after that became possible in that country on 1st of December 2006. Erik and I did our best to spoil them with some food, to get them for a big walk through the neighborhood later. (Actually I was surprised myself how good the wild goose did turn out, when it came out of the oven.) And guys, you did great on the walk!!!

Red Underwear

Our friend Pino told us that people in Italy wear red underwear on christmas day to insure their portion of good luck for the next year. Though we are not superstitious, Erik thought it wouldn't hurt to check things out. For Pino we made this picture as a proof that the experiment has started now. I can only hope that our methodes are scientifically approved amoung physicists and string theorists (I hope boxers will do, because we had no strings available...).

Merry Christmas Cookies ;-)

Vrolijk Kerstfeest! Frohe Weihnachten! Buon Natale! God Jul!

21 december 2006

Last weekend our friend Pino came to visit us in Zwolle. It was a very relaxed weekend, though we did a lot of sight seeing in and around Zwolle. Sunday all the shops were open and besides the sights of the old town we saw many people buying their Christmas presents ... that reminds me...

On Monday we went hiking on the Veluwe, an extended forest area near Zwolle. The light was really spooky there: a watery sun over low hanging flurries of fog. I made some pictures there that I like a lot. Have a look at my FlickR site if you want to see more pictures.

Far too soon the extended weekend ended and I had to stand the stress at work again for an other three days.

Robert Long passed away

"Het maakt me niet uit als ik dood ben gegaan
of er een kruis of en steen komt te staan
en of ze achter me aan, naar het graf zullen sjouwen

Maar als je een steen nodig vindt
en als je een grafschrift verzint
zoek dan een tekst die men altijd graag leest
van dat de tijd alle wonden geneest

Of dat ik altijd op zoek ben geweest
maar één zin die moet je onthouden
zet alsjeblieft op mijn steen
iemand, in elk geval één
heeft van hem gehouden"

=Robert Long=

Robert Long died last night, only 63 years old. The Netherlands lost a great artist; the gay community here mourns about an important icon, that broke many taboos back in the 70's. Personally I found his songs very supporting during my own coming out.

Yesterday Erik and I attended the Christmas drag cabaret show “KerstKlokkenSpel” of Coco Coquette and her friends at the Winston Kingdom in Amsterdam. It was a great show and we had a big laugh! Coco had some very touching songs about the little grieves in life. I was hoping we could get a glimpse of her partner in crime: Jet Lag. ... And my prayers were answered when she finally came on the stage and sang her unforgettable “Feed the World”.

Erik even won a prize during the show – a book for his work to assist Mrs. Coquette.

If you have any chance to see the show (only in Dutch) during the next two weeks, do it! It's only € 10,- but it's worth five times more.

Posted by e-mail

In a few weeks I hope to get my Blackberry (R) from work. I'll be able to get and send e-mail everywhere and whenever I want to. Blogging by e-mail will be possible as well. So I'll have to try this feature before I can use it....

...and you see it's working... :-)

Bush the dumb ass!

Fighting AIDS "includes the ABC approach: encouraging Abstinence, Being faithful, and using Condoms, with abstinence as the only sure way to avoid the sexual transmission of HIV/AIDS," said Bush.

Does any body know who the advisers are that give Bush such intelligent advices?
